Community Description:

Named for the Polish castle, Baranow is a neighbourhood devoted to nature. This area boasts an enriching treestand, wetlands, and multi-use trails that connect to other community-use trails. Development of this area occured quite early in Edmonton's history, with building booms after WWII, in the 1960s, and then the remaining construction in the 1990s. Lowe-rise apartment buildings take over 70% of the dwellings, followed by duplexes. Only 35% of the apartments are owner-occupied, but that number rised to almost 80% when you look at the duplexes.

Though there is a great deal of apartments buildings, this area is mostly a commerical, business, or industrial land use area. The residential areas are kept to the far north and in the south central.
